PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably control an aspect ratio so that noise-resistant characteristics can be obtained by prioritizing an aspect ratio detected from a control signal and an aspect ratio detected from an image signal of a D terminal. SOLUTION: The display is provided with a D terminal 3, an image input terminal 2 for external equipment, a selecting means 5, an aspect ratio information detecting means 12 for detecting the aspect ratio information of the terminal 3, an aspect ratio detecting means 13 for detecting the aspect ratio from an input image signal, an aspect ratio conversion means 8, a display means 10 and a control section 20. Furthermore, the display is provided with a comparator section 14 for comparing the results of detected aspect ratios, a judging section 15 for judging whether or not the aspect ratios matches, a priority setting means 17 for prioritizing the respective results of detection, and an aspect ratio selecting means 16 for selecting either of the results of the means 12 or 13 based on the set priorities.
