PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication unit connection method and an apparatus therefor by which the communication units having different interface conditions from each other are interconnected to attain compatible communication without the need for disclosing the different interface conditions to the manufacture of the communication unit of the connection opposite party. SOLUTION: The communication unit 1 adopts a characteristic configuration means configured with 1st specific interface circuits 3, 4 having different interface conditions from those of 2nd specific interface circuits 7, 8 of the communication unit 2 of the communication opposite party, a 1st compatible conversion circuit 5 that mutually converts a communication signal in compliance with the interface conditions of the 1st specific interface circuits 3, 4 and a communication signal in compliance with the interface conditions of a common interface circuit 6, and the common interface circuit 6 that is an interface circuit other than the 1st specific interface circuits 3, 4 and has the interface conditions in compliance with the interface conditions of the communication unit 2.
