PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separating pawl mechanism for image forming device by which an optimum separating function is realized according to the kind of a transfer material without wearing the surface of an image carrier. SOLUTION: At least one or more separating pawls 3 are respectively arranged at an image carrier center area 10 and the other image carrier end part area 11 by equally dividing an image carrier 12 in three in the longitudinal direction. In the case of a transfer material whose weight is >=60 kg/m2, only the separating pawl arranged at the image carrier center area 10 abuts on the image carrier 12, and in the case of the transfer material whose basis weight is <60 kg/m2, the separating pawls 3 arranged at the respective areas of the image carrier 12 simultaneously abut on the image carrier 12.
