PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating device capable of preventing the occurrence of the unevenness of light without interruption of light from an emitter by a rotary switch and of securing freedom in mounting of a peripheral part of the rotary switch. SOLUTION: The operating device contains the main printed board 15 mounted inside a case provided with an opening 3 in which an operating part 5 is made to face outside, a variable electric element 4 mounted on the main printed board 15, operating parts 5 having an engaging part 14 engaged with an operating element 6 of the variable electric element 4, a light guide body 7 exposed to the outside of the opening 3 of the case and mounted adjacent to the operating part 5, and an auxiliary printed board 12 on which a light emitting element 10 disposed between the variable electric element 4 and the light guide body 7 apart from the main printed board 15. The auxiliary printed board 12 is electrically connected to the main printed board 15. The light emitting element 10 mounted on the auxiliary printed board illuminates the operating part 5 or an area around the operating part 5 via the light guide body 7.
