摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a weir with refractories on the wall of a rotary kiln such that the mixture condition will be constant during dwell time of an article to be processed in the rotary kiln. SOLUTION: A weir is formed of refractories stepwise on the inner wall of a furnace. Difference of height between the top part and the bottom part of the step weir is set within 10% of the radius from the center of transverse section of a rotary kiln to the surface at the bottom part. Tangential angle obtained by dividing the difference of height between adjacent refractories of the step weir by the thickness at the surface part of the lower refractories, and tangential angle obtained by dividing the difference of height between the top part and the bottom part of the step weir by the sum of the thickness at the surface part of refractories on the bottom part and the thickness at the surface part of all adjacent refractories except the top part of weir are set not larger than 30 deg..
