PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gasoline engine type of fuel injection inside the cylinder, to restrain knocking, to make effective use of VVT, to improve mileage by stratified combustion, and furthermore to improve emission of exhaust gas. SOLUTION: A two-way injector 10 is installed near the center of he upper surface of a combustion chamber; ignition plugs 12 are installed near the inside of the outer brim of the combustion chamber with each facing in the two directions of the injector, on the upper surface of the piston working as the undersurface of the combustion chamber cavities are installed, each corresponding to the fuel injection directions of the injector 10; and each cavity is formed so that the injected fuel mixes with the intake air and guides the mixture upward, inside along the brim of the combustion chamber.
