The invention relates to an electric multilayer component comprising a base body (1), with a first and second type of stacked electrode layers (2, 3). The electrode layers (2, 3) are separated from each other by dielectric layers (4) and form at least one capacitor (C1, C2). The base body (1) has two pairs (5, 6) of outer contacts (7) which are arranged on opposite side surfaces (8) of the base body (1) in such a way that an outer contact (7) belonging to each pair (5,6) is disposed on each side surface (8) and the direct contacts of the outer contacts (7) respectively belonging to one pair intersect each other. The first pair (5) of outer contacts (7) is contacted to the first type of electrode layer (2). The second pair (6) of outer contacts (7) is contacted to the second type of electrode layer (3). One advantage of the diagonal leadthrough of the outer contacts (7) though the component is that the structural shape can be miniaturized.
