The safety device is provide for a vehicle with an engine area and a passenger area, separated from the engine area by a rear wall. Pedals extend into the foot region of the passenger area and are connected to mechanisms in the engine area. Seen from the point of view of a passenger in the vehicle, a holder (6) is provided, fixedly attached to the chassis, in front of the pedals (2,3,4). This prevents the pedals being pushed into the passenger area when a collision occurs due to the units connected to the pedals, or the side wall shifting.
