A device for the charging of a battery packet (12) with several battery segments (14,16) comprises: an energy source (18); and a device (20) for the application of a charge current from the energy source to a selected battery segment while the remaining battery segments are to be found in a non-charging relaxation interval, for the cyclical running through of the battery segments and periodic application of a charge current to each segment while the remaining segments are to be found in a non-charging relaxation interval. Each battery segment is charged as a function of a charge property which is selected from the group that consists of time, battery type, environment, battery temperature, rate of increase of temperature, battery voltage, charge rate, charge acceptance rate, resistive voltage drop, battery capacity and chemical properties of the battery. |
