Amide derivatives represented by the general formula (I), or pharmacologically acceptable salts, esters or other derivatives thereof, exhibiting excellent LDL-antioxidant and ACAT-inhibitory effects: (I) wherein R<1> is hydroxyl or lower alkoxy; R<2> is lower alkanoyl; R<3> is carboxyl, carbamoyl, mono(lower alkyl)carbamoyl, or di(lower alkyl)carbamoyl; and A is a single bond or C1-6 alkylene.
