<p>1291792 Stopping machines at definite positions DOMAIN INDUSTRIES Inc 19 April 1971 [7 April 1970] 22069/71 Heading F2E [Also in Division B8] In a label dispenser a strip of labels 28 is drawn from a spool S by drive sprockets 29.1, 29.2 engaging notches in the edges of the strip. After passing a printer roll 30, the strip 28 is fed to a cutter 31, the individual labels being adhered, by suction, to a belt conveyer 32. The conveyer 32 is driven faster than the sprockets 29.1, 29.2 in order to space the labels. The labels comprise an adhesive activated by heat applied along the conveyer 32. When the suction is removed the labels are released in turn, being directed to an article A by an air blast. A double-acting air cylinder is activated by an article A engaging a feeler 34.1 on a trip valve 34. The retraction and extension strokes of a piston-rod power, respectively, the feeder 29 and cutter 31 over most of their operational cycles, inertia completing them. Cam followers engage detents in rotary control cams connected to the feeder 29 and cutter 31 terminating the cycles at their precise end points.</p> |
