The gear selector has a selector lever operating two cables (8,9). One of the transmission cables (8) is connected to the end of an arm (15), and the position of the arm is set by movement of the gear selector lever (5). The gear selector lever can pivot in two orthogonal directions, displacing two sectors (6,7). A return lever (19) pivots on an axis (20) contained in the same plane as the two sector axes. This mechanism holds the gear selector lever at the desired distance from the first transmission cable and in proximity to the second transmission cable.
