Austenitic steel contains (in wt.%) 12-15 chromium, 17-21 manganese, less than 0.7 silicon, 0.4-0.7 carbon + nitrogen, less than 1.0 further elements, and a balance of iron. The ratio of carbon to nitrogen is 0.6-1.0. Preferred Features: The amount of carbon + nitrogen is 0.4-0.55 wt.% and the steel has a creep limit Rp0.2 of 400-470 MPa or the amount of carbon + nitrogen is 0.55-0.70 wt.% and the steel has a creep limit Rp0.2 of more than 470 MPa.
