Method for detaching/removing adhesive labels (20) from a label support (10) comprises placing the front side (40k) of a wear-resistant, sealable band (40), which is preferably narrower than the label, on the free visible face of the label facing away from the label support. The band is connected to the label with a detaching force working between the label and the band which is greater than the adhesive force of the label on the label support. The band with the attached label (20') is removed from the label support. Independent claims are also included for a device for carrying out the method and for the use of a strip-like support material as the band.
