(-)E-2-(3,4-dichlorocinnamyl)-1-cyclo-propylmethyl-piperidine of formula I:and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts, is useful for treating diarrhea in mammals. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions, processes for preparing compounds of formula (I) and intermediates useful for preparing compounds of formula I.
