The invention relates to an assembly for monitoring the driving condition of a vehicle comprising elements for generating a steering angle signal (Lw) and elements for generating a transversal acceleration signal (ay). The invention is characterised in that it comprises elements for comparing a signal derived from the steering angle signal (Lw) with a maximum steering angle signal, elements for comparing a signal derived from the transversal acceleration signal (ay) with a maximum transversal acceleration signal and that a variable (F), which describes the driving condition of the vehicle, can be derived from the comparison. The invention also relates to a method for monitoring the driving condition of a vehicle.
