<p>Biphenyl derivatives represented by the general formula (1) or salts thereof; and ACAT inhibitors or medicines containing the same as the active ingredient: (1) [wherein R1 is C¿5-7? alkyl; R?2¿ is optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbyl or cyclcoalkyl; R3 is tetrazolyl, -NHCOCF¿3?, -NHSO2CF3, or SO2NHCONHR?4¿ (wherein R4 is optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbyl); and Z is a single bond, C¿1-4? alkylene, or SO2NH-]. The derivatives and the salts have excellent ACAT inhibiting activity and are useful as preventive and/or therapeutic drugs for diseases due to the rise in ACAT activity, e.g., hypercholesterolemia and atherosclerosis.</p> |
