<p>The starter for a motor vehicle includes a microcomputer (38) controlling the starter switch. A data memory (52) stores information relating to the operating of the starter. This information may be extracted by a diagnostic circuit, using an interrogation cable. <??>The starter for a motor vehicle includes a microcomputer (38) and an electric motor (M) connected to the vehicle battery (B) via a contact (34) controlled by the microcomputer. It also includes a data memory (52) which stores information relating to the operating of the starter. The microcomputer stores a program in memory which is able to provoke transmission of the stored data via an interrogation cable (46) in response to reception of an interrogation signal. The interrogation cable comprises the cable used for control of the activation of the starter, connected via the ignition key switch which has an extra terminal for connection to a diagnostic system. Alternatively the interrogation cable may be a specific interrogation bus (46) in communication with the microcomputer (38), and to which the diagnostic system (50) is connected.</p> |
