PURPOSE: A method for converting a format of a video output and editing an image of a progressive CCD(Charge Coupled Device) camera is provided to alternatively store picked-up video data in two frame memories, and to inflict output data clocks from an external to data read from the frame memories to convert clocks of the read data, so as to convert a format of output data in compliance with a CCIR(International Radio Consultative Committee) standard. CONSTITUTION: In a pickup step, video data shot in a progressive CCD camera are received to a controller, together with camera synchronizing signals and camera data clocks. In a video signal storing step, the video data are stored in a frame memory connected to the controller. In a reading step, the video data stored in the frame memory are read in the frame memory by frame index signals, and read data are configured. In an output mode changing step, an output mode of the read data is changed to an output mode inputted in the controller by a mode selection signal. In a format converting step, the read data are converted into output data, by converting a frequency by an external clock inflicted to the controller and converting into a format in compliance with a protocol of a CCIR. And in an output step, the output data are encoded to signals of a medium for display and displayed on the display medium.
