<p>A device for stretching and pressing cloth such as a collar and cuffs of a shirt comprising lower smoothing irons (2, 3) and an upper smoothing iron (4). Each lower iron (2, 3) has vapor spraying tubes in a hollow portion thereof for delivering vapor through holes in the iron's upper surface into cloth laid thereover. Each lower iron (2, 3) has an extending machine (23) at each side for pinching a cloth edge between a receiving piece (26) and a pressing piece (27), which is rotatable theretowards. Downward pivoting of rocking members (28) on which the receiving and pressing pieces (26, 28) are mounted stretches the cloth back to its original form. Sheets resiliently stretched over recesses (4a) of the upper iron (4) may be provided to hold the cloth in place, the sheets deflecting into the recesses as the upper iron is lowered onto the lower irons. Vapor delivery occurs previous to and also possibly during cloth pressing. <IMAGE></p> |
