PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator cage and its assembling method capable of installing side plates for assembling from inside the cage and free of risk that fastening with bolts and nuts is left out of execution. SOLUTION: The cage of elevator is formed by coupling together a plurality of side plates 1 and 2. A receptacle part 3 is formed at the folded end 1a of one 1 of adjoining side plates while a hitching part 4 is formed at the folded end 2a of the other side plate 2, and they 1 and 2 are coupled together by fitting the hitching part 4 in the receptacle part 3. This coupling operation of adjoining side plates 1 and 2 is conducted in the cage.
