PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to do well-balanced capping of a recording head with a capping device for several heads without installing the recording head in all the several head attaching parts of a head carriage for several recording heads and wipe off the stain of a wiper. SOLUTION: A head dummy member 24 is arranged between an unused head attaching part and a cap 10 of the corresponding capping device 12, by attaching a recording head 4 to other head attaching parts by leaving the unused head attaching part of a head carriage 2.
