PURPOSE: A character input method of a terminal using character pattern is provided to compare a pattern corresponding the character pattern through a predetermined basic input group and an addition group added by a user, display the corresponding pattern and then select the pattern. CONSTITUTION: When starting a counter operation, if the time does not exceed a setting time of a counter, it is discriminated whether the present patterns corresponding to the present input key signal is stored to a basic input device and a user addition group(S101,S102). If the corresponded patterns exist, the patterns are displayed to a screen(S103). Thereafter, when selecting a pattern among the corresponded patterns, the selected pattern is stored(S106) and then the pattern is reset(S105). If the present pattern does not exist to the basic input device and a user addition group, the user selects the corresponded item and then the pattern is stored to the user addition group.
