PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method using an image receiving sheet, into which a transfer printing property accelerating material such as water, a water-soluble organic solvent or the like easily penetrates, which has a proper adhesion and affinity with a transfer layer, on which an image is formed and an image receiving layer, on which a high image quality and high density image can be formed. SOLUTION: This image forming method has a latent image forming process for forming a latent image by giving the transfer printing property accelerating material, which accelerates the transfer of a thermal transfer material to the surface of the image recording layer, in the fashion of an image by the liquid drops or the like discharged from a discharge head 13 to at least either the surface of the transfer layer of an image transfer material 5 produced by providing the transfer layer made of the thermal transfer material on a support or the surface of an image receiving sheet 11 having the image receiving layer, onto which the thermal transfer material can be transferred, and a transfer process for transferring the thermal transfer material in response to the latent image through the contact of the surface of the transfer layer with the surface of the image receiving layer in order to form an image on the surface of the image receiving layer under the condition that the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet includes one kind or more among a polyvinyl alcohol, a gum arabic and a polyvinyl pyrrolidone. |
