PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new cytostatic gene derived from human being, a protein encoded by the gene, and a method for the genetic test using the gene. SOLUTION: TIGA1 cDNA having a specific sequence derived from human being and TIGA1 protein having a specific sequence derived from human being encoded by the gene were isolated. The base sequence of genome TIGA1 was also determined. The protein encoded by TIGA1 strongly inhibits the colony formation of lung cancer cell line EBC-1.
