PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door device for elevator car wherein noises is unlikely transmitted into the car by blocking a notch in a door receptacle covering plate with a block plate when sliding door is closed. SOLUTION: An engaging device is installed on the outer surface of sliding door 9 for opening and closing the doorway 4 of elevator, and the outer surface of the door receptacle to store the sliding door 9 in opened condition is arranged to form a main part of the car outer surface, wherein the edge confronting the frontage direction edge of the doorway 4 is arranged confronting in proximity to the car outside surface of the sliding door 9, and the door receptacle covering plate 15 has notch 16 open to the position mating with the frontage direction edge of the doorway 4 to store the engaging device when the sliding door 9 is opened. One end of the block plate 21 is mounted at the edge on the receptacle side of the sliding door 9 and arranged inside the plate 15, and the notch 16 to store the engaging device is blocked by the plate 21 when the door 9 is full closed.
