NOVEL CLUSTER CATALYST AND HYDROGENATION USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst comprising a modification of a novel metal cluster and a method for hydrogenating an olefin by using the same. SOLUTION: A catalyst comprising a modified cluster prepared from the partial structural break of a metal cluster, and a method for hydrogenating an olefin comprising using the catalyst. The metal cluster has a basic skeleton having at least three metallic atoms and is exemplified by a cluster halide which is a cluster in which the constituent molecule or the bridging molecule has a halogen.
