PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively and cheaply treating an organic waste such as agricultural products and processed food stuffs generated from a production place or a supply center of meals, or the like. SOLUTION: Agricultural products out of the size standards, processed food stuffs, or the like, vegetables of unsold goods, or the like, fagends of breads, leftover rice, beancurd refuse and other organic wastes 1 generated from the production place, the supply center of meals, beancurd shops, or the like, as organic wastes 1 are charged into a dry distillation chamber 3 and are carbonized by heating via a heating chamber 5, wherein a dry distillation gas generated when the organic waste 1 is heated after it is charged into the chamber 3 is introduced into a combustion chamber 4 which heats a heating chamber 5 so as to allow the gas to be combusted at a high temperature to heat the chamber 3, and if the temperature of the chamber 5 exceeds a set value by introducing the dry distillation gas, the volume of the waste 1 charged into the chamber 3 is so reduced as to lower the agitation of the waste 1 to keep the chamber 3 at a predetermined temperature, thus performing a dry distillation treatment on the waste 1. Particularly, allowing the dry distillation gas to be combusted at the high temperature with an ancillary treatment chamber juxtaposed at the chamber 4 facilitates to perform the dry distillation treatment on the waste 1 containing high protein, high fats and high fats and oils.
