<p>A method for updating channel information in a BWA(Broadband Wireless Access) system is provided to enable an MS(Mobile Station), which is in idle mode, to supply DCD(Downlink Channel Descriptor)/UCD(Uplink Channel Descriptor) information more efficiently so that the MS can rapidly access a network when downlink traffic is generated. In updating channel information for an MS(Mobile Station) which is in power saving mode, a BS(Base Station) transmits an IE(Information Element) containing a transmission frame field, which indicates a frame at which a channel descriptor configuration change counter and a channel descriptor are transmitted, to the MS. The BS transmits the channel descriptor at the frame the transmission frame field indicates. In this case, the BS transmits indication information which indicates whether the channel descriptor is scheduled to be transmitted during the next paging unavailable interval.</p> |
