A thread take-up apparatus and a sewing machine comprising the same are provided to prevent a thread take-up unit from deviating from the rock limitation position due to inertia and rotating excessively, thereby improving the reliability of a sewing process. A thread take-up unit has a thread hanger(59) on which a thread is hung. A driver drives the thread take-up unit so that the thread hanger is rocked to-and-fro in order to pull or loosen the thread during a sewing process. A stopper(70) prevents the thread take-up unit from deviating from the rock limit position in one direction. The thread take-up unit further has a rock shaft(53), which is rocked and rotated by the driver, and a thread take-up arm(57), of which one end is fixed to the rock shaft. The thread-hanger is disposed at the other end of the thread take-up arm. The stopper is formed of elastic materials. The stopper has a contact portion, which is surface-contacted with the thread take-up unit at the rock limitation position.
