<p>An elastic plastics slat (1), especially for beds or sofas and similar furniture, is a hollow profile with a variable cross section over its length with the centre section (6) narrower and higher than the end zones (3) which are wider and flatter. The material is a thermoplastic with at least 40 vol.% of fibres, preferably continuous fibres, as glass fibres, carbon fibres, aramide fibres, synthetic fibres, natural fibres or their mixtures. The interior of the hollow profile can be filled with a gas or a foam material. The extruded profile is cut to lengths, and moulded to shape by heat and pressure sufficient to melt the thermoplastics for shaping.</p> |
