Compositions selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl-substituted cyclopentanes, hydrocarbyl-substituted cyclopentenes, and hydocarbyl-substituted cyclopentadienes are described. The compositions may be used in a lubricant layer on a magnetic head for reading and writing on a magnetic recording medium. Also described is a magnetic head comprising a head and a lubricant layer over at least a portion of the head, the lubricant layer comprising a composition according to the invention. The magnetic recording medium and the magnetic head may be used to manufacture computer disk drives, compact disk drives, audio equipment, and video equipment. |
