PURPOSE: A device and a method for indicating a direction on a video terminal are provided to measure the direction of an object through a direction sensor when the object is photographed by a camera attached to the terminal and to display the direction on the terminal together with the image of the object. CONSTITUTION: A direction indicating device of a video terminal includes a direction sensor(204A), an A/D converter(204), a multiplexer(205D), and a direction indication processor(205C). The direction sensor detects a direction in accordance with a photographing direction of a camera(202A). The A/D converter converts an analog direction detection signal output from the direction sensor into a digital signal. The multiplexer encodes and multiplexes a video signal captured by the camera and the direction detection signal output from the A/D converter. The direction indication processor separates the original video signal and direction detection signal from the multiplexed data and mixes the signals with each other to display the mixed signal on a screen.
