PURPOSE: A drum brake device is provided to prevent a holding unit of a shoe from being damaged and to keep the performance of a brake stably for a long time by enlarging the intermediate portion of the brake. CONSTITUTION: A drum brake apparatus prevents damage of a holding mechanism of a shoe by securing the larger space at the central region of a brake, and achieves long effective and stable function of the brake. A bypass hole(60d), through which a shoe-hold pin(41) is freely penetrating, is formed in a brake lever(60) positioned beneath a shoe web(20b) of the brake shoe, and a stopper portion(60e) contacting a shoe rim is formed on the brake lever to avoid the collision between the shoe-hold pin and the bypass hole when the brake lever is in operation.
