PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a magnetron is provided to easily enhance the hermetic welding performance. CONSTITUTION: A magnetron comprises an anode vacuum container(1), a cathode(2), and an antenna(3). The anode vacuum container(1) further includes an anode cylinder(6), a plurality of vanes(7) disposed radially in the anode cylinder(6), magnetic pole pieces(8,9) disposed at an opening end of the anode cylinder(6) and a metal container(10,11) disposed covering the magnetic pole piece(8,9). The cathode(2) is disposed on the central axis of the vacuum container(10). The antenna(3) emits microwave to the outside. When the pole piece(8,9) and the metal container(10) are superposed sequentially on a stage which is formed inside a thin cylinder(6a) projected from an end opening of the anode cylinder(6) and the magnetron is sealed hermetically, a bent portion(10a) of the periphery of the metal container(10) is temporarily fixed to the inside of the thin cylinder(6a) of the anode cylinder(6) by using a plurality of protrusions.
