PURPOSE: A sliding gate valve for a continuous caster is provided to reduce or prevent channeling inside a submerged nozzle so that not only inclusion of impurities are prevented, but also quality of products is improved. CONSTITUTION: In a sliding gate valve for a continuous caster which is installed at the upper part of an immersion valve of the continuous caster to control a supply amount of molten steel supplied to a mold from a tundish, the sliding gate valve for the continuous caster comprises an upper valve plate(12) which is arranged at the upper part of the immersion valve, and on which an opening part(18) is formed so that molten steel passes through the opening part(18), wherein a step(20) is integrally projected from the opening part(18) to control penetration of molten steel and prevent channeling of molten steel; a control valve plate(14) which is movably contacted with the lower part of the upper valve plate(12), and on which a groove(22) is formed, wherein an opening degree of the groove(22) is controlled by the step(20) of the upper valve plate(12); and a lower valve plate(16) which is contacted with the lower part of the control valve plate(14), and on which an opening part(24) is formed so that molten steel passes through the opening part(24), wherein a step(26) is integrally projected from the opening part(24) to prevent flowing of molten steel and channeling of molten steel.
