PURPOSE: A vehicle illumination system is provided to prevent the injury of a driver or the damage of a vehicle due to an obstacles around the vehicle in the nighttime or in the dark place. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle illumination system includes a transmitter(10) having a lock key and an unlock key for transmitting lock/unlock signals, a receiving part(11) for receiving signals transmitted from the transmitter, an illumination sensor(12) for sensing illumination around a vehicle, an A/D converter(13) for converting the illumination sensed by the illumination sensor to a digital signal, lamps(15) for lighting up the environment of the vehicle, and a controller(14) for operating the operation of lamps according to the lock/unlock signals and the illumination data signal, wherein the controller determines whether the sensed environmental illumination value is lower than a preset illumination value to drive the lamps if yes.
