PURPOSE: A high alumina castable refractory composition applied to bottom refractory of ladle for steelmaking is provided, which has heat resistance, mechanical shock, and abrasion by controlling particle sizes of refractory and aggregate. CONSTITUTION: The alumina castable refractory composition comprises the components of: 75-85wt.% of castable refractory mixture comprising 50-65wt.% of refractory with 1-10mm of size, 25-30wt.% of refractory with 0.075-1mm of size and 10-20wt.% of refractory with less than 0.075mm of size; 15-25wt.% of pellet-shaped coarse aggregate with 10-50mm of size; and optionally 10wt.% of alumina cement including alumina more than 80wt.% as a binder and 5.5-6wt.% of water.
