PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device such as a digital printer that corrects luminance of image data so as to make the lightness (density) of a part of a major object such as a skin part of a person proper especially in a back light scene of the like when the device prints out an image photographed by a digital camera or the like. SOLUTION: Assuming that an image is reproduced by using image data, the image is divided into areas, an average luminance of each area is calculated by using pixel data corresponding to each area, and by comparing the luminance of the areas whether or not a back light scene takes place is discriminated. Furthermore, colors of each pixel are specified by using full pixel data to extract pixel data of the color of the major object, e.g. the same color as the skin color of a person. By using pixel data at a prescribed ratio (e.g. 2/3) from the extracted pixel data with the lower luminance in the case of the back light scene or by using pixel data at a prescribed ratio (e.g. 2/3) from the extracted pixel data with the higher luminance in the case that the scene is not the back light scene, the average luminance is calculated to obtain the luminance of the image. Moreover, a luminance correction amount is calculated so that the calculated luminance of the image is a prescribed proper luminance, the full pixel data are corrected by using the obtained luminance correction value and the image is formed by using the corrected image data. |
