PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a female terminal allowing enhancement of the easiness in the work to remove a flexible piece therefrom by opening a flexible piece receiving hole in the bottom wall while a proper contacting force is generated in the area to a male terminal and a leaf spring is prevented from excessive deformation. SOLUTION: The female terminal is composed of a cylindrical trunk 10, a leaf spring 20 installed in the trunk and having a first bent part 21 bent back upward from the front extremity of the trunk bottom wall 11, a middle part 22 extending back ward from the first bent part, a second bent part 23 bent down forward from the tail of the middle part, and a forefront part 24 extending from the second bent part to the middle part in such a way as separating farther, a first engaging means 30 to engage the front extremity of the leaf spring forefront part with the side wall, a second engaging means 40 to admit displacement for a certain length down of that part of the leaf spring middle part located farther ahead than the contacting part in the condition that the leaf spring middle part is displaced down and contacts with the leaf spring forefront part and to generate engagement with the side wall at the lower dead point, and flexible piece receiving hole 50 opened in a position farther ahead than that part of the bottom wall where the second bent part or the tail of the forefront part of the leaf spring is displaced down to make abutting. |
