PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for performing the backup service of telephone directory information. SOLUTION: This system 100 which performs the backup service of telephone directory information for the users of portable telephones 10 and 50 having a function for transmitting and receiving telephone directory information, is provided with an exchange controller 30 for transmitting/receiving a user identification code and a password and the telephone directory information of the user through a base station device 20 from the portable telephone and a backup server 40 for storing the telephone directory information and the password in a storage device by user identification codes according to the instruction of the exchange controller through the Internet or Intranet and reading them from the storage device. In the system, the exchange controller reads the telephone directory information from the backup server, and transfers it to the portable telephone based on the transfer command of the telephone directory information transmitted with the user identification code and the password from the portable telephone.
