PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely identify coins by eliminating the influence of a temperature change. SOLUTION: The coin identifying device comprises a coin carrying path 13 for carrying a coin 15 to be detected along a guide 14 while being supported on a sliding plane 13a, first magnetic detecting sensors la, 2a arranged in the coin carrying path 13, and identifying means for identifying the coin 15 in accordance with output signals from the detecting sensors 1a, 2a, wherein second magnetic detecting sensors 1b, 2b between which a comparison sample 17 having a conductivity as a reference value is arranged are provided for detecting the conductivity of the comparison sample 17 so that the coin 15 is identified by comparing the conductivity of the comparison sample 17 with the conductivity of the coin 15 to be carried.
