The supple container (1), e.g. a 'big bag', has an open upper end (3) tapering to form a neck (2) that is folded and twisted before being fastened and sealed with an adhesive strip (5). The folding, twisting and sealing operations are carried out by a machine with a rotary clamp on the end of an arm and a sealing strip dispenser with a reel, guide and pressure member.
