The invention relates to a method of controlling a radially stratified flame core burner. According to the invention, the method comprises a step of determining the depth of a furnace accomodating the radially stratified flame core burner, followed by establishing the allowable length of the flame produced by the burner depending on the furnace depth, then a step of establishing an external air flow region and by a step of establishing an internal air and mineral fuel flow region and a last step of controlling the length of the flame produced by the burner, by controlling the angular momentum of the air injected into the internal region and by controlling the angle of fuel injection into the internal region.
