The method includes acquiring the lever (1) position by means of a first sensor for determining the first position signal, acquiring the position of the lever by a second sensor for determining the second position signal, and transmitting the position signals to an analysis unit (2) by separate signal routes. The next steps include analysing the position signal according to their concordance, by means of the analysis unit, with a view to create a control signal for the gearbox, and selection of the control signal from a great number of recommended control signals, and transmitting this control signal from the gearbox control device (4).
