PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To emphasize a difference between pixels related to the substantial structure of an image, and other picture elements. SOLUTION: The pixels constituting the image are individually made pixels of note to respectively obtain the dispersion of a pixel value in a local region to which each pixel of note belongs (508), and when the dispersion of the pixel value is intentionally larger than the dispersion of noise, the pixel value of the pixel of note is maintained. If that is not the case, the pixel value of the pixel of note is suppressed (510, 512). |
