METHOD FOR DESIGNATING ALTERNATIVE E-MAIL RECIPIENT, SYSTEM AND COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extension of a SMTP protocol which prevents in advance non-delivery problems of messages and designates an alternative e-mail recipient. SOLUTION: In a computer system which contains an e-mail system connected to an e-mail network which uses a SMTP(Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) protocol, a method for designating an alternative e-mail recipient. Considering when the e-mail system cannot deliver messages to an original recipient, this method contains a designation of the alternative recipient of the e-mail message by an originator; and a delivery of the messages to a designated alternative recipient by the e-mail system when the original recipient cannot be delivered. Further, a system and a computer program product are provided for executing the above method.
