PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent any plosive noise from being outputted until a squelch circuit starts when a power source switch or a talk switch is turned off at a transmitter side in radio equipment constituted of a transmitter and a receiver. SOLUTION: When a power source switch or a talk switch is turned off at a transmitter side, a control unit 10 forms a silent period only in a prescribed period since the switch is turned off, and then stops the transmission output. On the other hand, the gain of an expander 24 decreases, that is, releases in the silent period at a receiver side. Then, the gain of the expander 24 starts to increase, that is, attack since the lapse of the silent period, and a squelch switch 25 is turned off in the attack period of the expander 24. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the level of any noise to be outputted from an output terminal 26 until the squelch switch 25 is turned off. Thus, it is possible to prevent the generation of any plosive noise.
