PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube that has little unevenness of color by making all openings of shadow masks nearly desired uniform shape while the shadow mask is in a tensioned state. SOLUTION: The cathode-ray tube comprises a pair of supports 13a, 13b that are arranged in parallel opposed to each other and a shadow mask 11 that is formed in order with many openings and functions as a color selection electrode, and the shadow mask is set up and held in a state of tension being given by the supports. Before the shadow mask is set up, the shape of the openings is changed so that the width of the openings at the middle part in the direction of tension of the openings being given becomes gradually smaller from the center part to the both ends in the direction parallel to the longitudinal direction of the supports.
