PURPOSE: A method for detecting eccentricity of rolls in a rolling mill in variable speed section by speed compensation is provided which detects eccentricity components of the rolls at a constant rolling speed and in the variable speed section, and utilizes the results as information for controlling of eccentricity and replacement of backup rolls. CONSTITUTION: The method for detecting eccentricity of rolls in a rolling mill comprises a conversion step (S1-S6) of converting rolling load signals obtained at a certain time interval in the speed variation section in rolling process into rolling load signals for a certain degree angle through speed compensation; and a detection step (S7-S9) of detecting eccentricity of the rolls by fast fourier transforming the converted load signals, wherein the conversion step further comprises the steps of obtaining rotation angle curves for times by converting the speed into angular velocity and integrating the angular velocity with respect to time (S2); determining a rotation angle by equally dividing a backup roll into N parts for the total rotation angle curve (S3,S4); obtaining times corresponding to each rotation angles through interpolation from the angle curves for times (S5); and performing interpolation from the load signal curves for a certain time so as to calculate load values at a time corresponding to a certain degree angle (S6), wherein FFT(fast fourier transform) is performed on the load values obtained from the certain degree angle.
